A therapist is mandated by law to maintain your confidentiality. There are however a few limits that pertain to this law, which include cases involving child abuse, elder abuse, or imminent danger to oneself or someone else.
Many people feel nervous before their first appointment, wondering what their therapist will ask, or what they should tell their therapist. Your therapist will primarily want to hear the reasons you made the appointment, and what you hope to accomplish in therapy.
